Christmas .....
We will suspend sending mail orders from Wednesday 4th December, starting again, weather permitting,  from 6th January 2025. Most of our plants will be under cover, dormant and probably not looking at their summer best, so we encourage you to look at our eGift Vouchers as an alternative.

Dahlias

Dahlias like a fertile, well drained soil and reasonable moisture levels, just not too dry. They also prefer lots of sun. They are tuberous plants and the fleshy tubers can be prone to frost damage so in cold areas it is often advisable to lift them after the first frost has knocked back the foliage and store the tubers somewhere frost free over winter. Pot Sizes

Unless otherwise indicated our plants are supplied in the following pot sizes according to category. Dimensions refer to either the pot diameter (cm) or volume (litre);

  • Exotics/Conservatory & House Plants, Succulents: mostly as young plants in 7 to 9cm (approx. 0.5 litre)  or 1 litre pots
  • Hardy Perennials, Ferns and Grasses: 1 litre (approx. 12cm diameter)

The exact size of plants will vary with the growing season and may be cut back in accordance with normal pruning regimes or to fit in the box if they are excessively tall.
